Al & Bob Pelton of SLC, UT tried some potato donuts in Germany and loved them. Upon returning to Utah, they created and perfected their own potato donut recipe, coined the name “spudnut”, and went into business in 1940. At Johnny O’s, we use the authentic spudnut recipe that the Pelton brothers created nearly 75 years ago.
